Dock Ellis, LSD and a no-hitter

On June 12, 1970, Pittsburgh Pirate pitcher Dock Ellis threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. Fourteen years later Ellis would claim that he was under the influence of LSD during the game. Over at Slanch Report they have started on online petition to air the no-hitter on the MLB Network, something that undoubtedly, if true, would be a major embarrassment to Major League Baseball. I'm not sure if the game was even aired, as it was the first game of a double-header in 1970, but with the recent admission of Mark McGwire, I don't see why it would be an issue to show a game in which a player was "under the influence" of a banned substance.

Either way, maybe you have seen this, maybe you haven't, but this is a great illustration of the event I came across that was done by a guy name James Blagden. Enjoy.
